Cher has served the industry in various capacities, most notably as VP of Education in 1990 and 1991, under whose leadership the first Certification Program was written and implemented, and as President of the Foundation Board of Education. Cher led various ISES committees and spoke at Chapters nationwide, has been a repeat speaker at The Special Event as well as for other industry and business organizations.
Cher and PFI won (4) first-place Awards at TSE for Tabletop Design, the ISES Spirit of Excellence Award and nominations for both Gala and Espirit Awards. Cher’ Design and Production Company staff are highly trained event professionals; PFI is celebrating its 30th year in business during 2012. In 2008, Cher opened Planning Factory Bermuda with her Bermudian partner, Kathryn Massa. Now the leading event marketing and management firm on island, PFB is producing corporate events and meetings for on-island clients such as Bacardi, HSBC and the Bermuda Insurance Institute, and serving the client needs of local hotels and incoming Incentive or Meeting groups, particularly at Rosewood Tucker’s Point Hotel & Spa. PFB was recently engaged by the Maritime Museum as their exclusive Event Management Company.
What has made PFI/PFB one of the most successful and in-demand companies in the US and Bermuda is Cher’s knowledgeable yet personal approach to marketing and networking combined with her commitment to quality, service and education.

Thing you're most looking forward to about 2012:
Best event / favorite PF memory:
It was a weekday afternoon at PFI and Kate is sitting in her office directly across from me talking to Cher who is standing behind her. Ann sneaks out of her office with a 5’ long toy snake and whips it into Kate’s office. It lands on Kate’s desk and there’s about a 3 second delay while Kate does a double take before she completely loses it. Arms and legs flying, Kate is now doing a wheelie on her chair and simultaneously screaming bloody murder. However, the icing on the cake is that while Kate is falling back and about to fall off the chair, Cher takes one step forward with her arms stretched out to catch Kate and then immediately thinks better of it and steps back. Luckily, there was no injury to report, only a broken chair. Quite a show.
Favorite Event Décor
This is a toughie but the first event I ever worked with PFI was the University of Delaware College of Health Sciences Gala and it was stunning. Everything was so natural that it made the event so very enjoyable and relaxing to work.
Job title: Meetings & Experience Manager
Hometown: Rochester, NY
How she got involved with Planning Factory: "I read an article about Planning Factory in an (ah-hem) “oldish” edition of Delaware Today Magazine. I was immediately impressed and knew I wanted to work for that company! One thing led to another and I landed a summer internship and, well, the rest is history. Eight years later and I’m still here! (No longer the summer intern, thankfully!)"
- Cheese: Bulgarian Feta & Cambozola
- Drink: Dirty Martini with Blue Cheese Olives
- TV Show: Glee- Event Equipment: Microphones & Walkie Talkies. Any of the PFI team members can tell you that I’m completely obsessed!
- Catch Phrase: “Sorry about your luck, Chuck!”
- Scary PFI Office Pranks:
o That time my office was plastered with animal photos and it took weeks to find each and every last picture!;
o The Halloween prop in the bathroom; it gets me every time!
Best event / favorite Planning Factory memory: I loved being a part of the Live 8 Concert in Philadelphia back in 2005. Planning Factory had the opportunity to decorate the VIP tents for the entertainers/musicians. It was the best/craziest/longest few days in the scorching summer heat, but it was an absolutely incredible experience to have been a part of!
